Jorge Jesus is set to become the next head coach of the Portuguese national team

Jorge Jesus is set to become the next head coach of the Portuguese national team. The 71-year-old manager is the choice of Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF), to succeed Roberto Martínez.

An agreement between the two parties has been outlined, and the official announcement is expected by the end of this week.

Jesus will sign a four-year contract running through the 2030 World Cup, a tournament Portugal will co-host.

Jorge Jesus will earn less than he did under his previous contract with Al-Nassr. The salary difference is significant; furthermore, Jesus will have access to fewer performance bonuses, given that he will participate in far fewer matches and competitions.

His debut will take place on September 24 at Alvalade Stadium against Wales, marking the start of the Nations League campaign, a competition in which Portugal will defend the title won last year.
